On March 29th, DonorUA organized an open blood donation event at the Ocean Plaza shopping mall (photos are here). 52 residents of Kyiv donated blood to help military and civilian patients in the capital. The blood collection was conducted by specialists from the National Institute of Surgery and Transplantology named after O.O. Shalimov of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.

"Blood donation is still surrounded by myths - people often fear donating blood. Open blood donation events, especially in such popular locations as Ocean Plaza, demonstrate that it is not scary, not painful, and that sharing blood with those who need it is a joyful event. We thank the Ocean Plaza team for their trust and cooperation, and to all donors - for saving lives," commented Iryna Slavinska, co-founder of DonorUA and President of the All-Ukrainian Association of Blood Donors.

Each donation can save from 1 to 3 lives, so 52 donors potentially gave hope for recovery to 156 patients. Many wounded soldiers, children, and adults with oncological diseases, and other patients who require blood transfusions are hospitalized in Kyiv's hospitals. Therefore, we thank everyone who responded and donated blood.

Special thanks to the NGO "Nation of the Unbroken" for the financial support of the event. These funds not only helped save lives today but also became a resource for further work: attracting new donors, organizing new events, and creating educational content.
