In Kyiv, 55 donors gave blood at an on-site blood drive on February 3. The donation drive was held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Kyiv Podil City Centre. It was a new event within DonorUA's monthly "Add Some Red" campaign.
"This is the second time in a row that our Add Some Red events have been interrupted by air raids - we were incredibly lucky before. This time the alarm was sounded twice and the event had to be stopped so that everyone could get down to the shelter, but 55 brave donors still managed to give blood. It can be enough for more than 150 patients, including our defenders, and this was the most sincere gratitude for the two alarms without any injuries," says Iryna Slavinska, co-founder of DonorUA and President of the All-Ukrainian Association of Donors of Ukraine.
The blood was collected by specialists of the Kyiv Regional Blood Service Center. For many months now, the Kyiv region has been experiencing a shortage of blood of all groups: civilians need it in regular hospitals and also transport it to military hospitals and staging areas. The staff of the blood center calls on everyone who has no contraindications to join the donor movement to save lives at the front and in the back.
Monthly 'Add Some Red" campaign takes place in Kyiv aimed at replenishing the blood supply and promoting the idea that donating can be both interesting and fun.
