In Kyiv, on March 2, 50 donors donated blood at an on-site collection at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Podil. This was a new event within DonorUA's monthly campaign "Add Some Red."
"In the morning of March 2, Ukraine was shaken by terrible news when a Russian drone hit a residential building in Odesa. Despite this, our donors in Kyiv did not hesitate and together did what we all must do in these terrifying times: helped save human lives. 50 donations - that's over 20 liters of blood for military and civilian patients. Thank you!" - comments Iryna Slavinska, co-founder of DonorUA and President of the NGO "All-Ukrainian Association of Blood Donors."
The blood collection was conducted by specialists from the M. M. Amosov Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery. For many months, there has been a shortage of blood of all groups in Kyiv region - it is needed by civilians in ordinary hospitals, as well as transported to military hospitals and stabilization points. Medical professionals urge everyone without contraindications to join the donor movement to save lives on the front lines and in the rear.
Among the participants and guests of the event, prizes from the Ukrainian gadgets brand Gelius were raffled off - thanks to our partners for supporting our initiatives for over 3 years! Photos from the event are available at the link.
The traditional "Add Some Red" campaign is held in Kyiv every month. The project's goal is not only to replenish blood supplies but also to show that donation can be interesting and even fun.
